Walking a faith journey isn’t always easy. It’s filled with moments of trust, self-reflection, and growth that challenge us to become more aligned with God’s love and purpose. Sometimes, we look for answers; other times, we just want to feel His presence and know we’re not alone in our struggles.
In my previous post, Growing Closer to God with Devotionals, I shared a series of devotional prompts, along with Bible verses, designed to help deepen our relationship with God. Today, I’m taking it one step further by sharing my own responses to these prompts. I believe in being open and honest about my journey because it’s not just something I write about—it’s something I live through every day. My hope is that by sharing these personal reflections, you’ll feel encouraged and know that you’re not alone on this path. Together, we’re navigating what it means to trust, grow, and find peace in God’s love.
So here are my answers to the devotional prompts, straight from the heart. I hope they inspire you to reflect on your own journey and to draw closer to the One who is always by our side
1. What is one area in my life where I need to trust God more fully?
There are a few areas where I know I need to trust God more deeply, but my financial situation comes to mind first. Since graduating, I’ve struggled to find a job, and it’s been stressful. I feel a strong urge to start working, but I know God has a plan for me that’s greater than what I can see. I need to relax and trust His timing, remembering that God has shown up for me so many times before. And if I’d found a job right away, I wouldn’t have started this blog, which has already been a blessing on its own.
2. How has God shown His love for me recently?
My daughter is over a year and a half old now, and she has only slept through the night a handful of times since birth. As a first-time mom, I accepted that sleepless nights were just part of the journey. I used to pray for strength and patience, and God always provided, giving me the calmness to get through those tough nights. Recently, though, I decided to pray specifically for her to sleep through the night—and she actually did! The one night I forgot to pray, she woke up multiple times. I can honestly say that only God could have brought about this peaceful change. Knowing God responds to even small prayers like this shows me just how deeply He cares.
Writing down my thoughts and prayers helped me stay more intentional, track my growth, and see how God was moving in my life. If you’re looking for a helpful tool to enhance your prayer life, I highly recommend this Prayer Journal. It’s been a game-changer for me, offering structure and space for reflection as I deepen my connection with God.
3. What does it mean to love others the way Jesus loves me?
One of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard is that the Bible is God’s love letter to us. Knowing that makes me feel worthy and cherished. Jesus’ love calls me to show grace, practice patience, and live by the golden rule—to even love those who may have hurt me. Being a true disciple means loving others as He loves us, even when it’s challenging. This is something I’m still working on, but in every situation, I remind myself that we’re all God’s children, and I strive to love His people as fully as He loves me.
4. What do I feel God is calling me to in this season of my life?
Right now, I feel God is calling me to share His word through this blog and to be there for others in their times of need. In this season, He’s teaching me to put Him first and to ensure that everything I do brings Him glory. I’m also learning that I can only control my actions and reactions—not anyone else’s. This understanding brings me peace and helps me respond in a way that reflects Jesus. I’m discovering that sharing my faith isn’t just about speaking God’s word; it’s about living in it.
5. What are three things I am grateful for today?
There’s so much I’m grateful for, but here are a few blessings that come to mind:
1. My daughter’s health – She wakes up happy and in amazing health. I couldn’t ask for more.
2. My family – Their endless love and support remind me I’m never alone, and I feel so blessed to have them.
3. My partner – Thanks to his hard work, my daughter and I have a roof over our heads and food on our table. He comes home every day ready to play with her, and his positivity means so much. Love you, babe!
Even on tough days, there’s always something to be thankful for, no matter how small. Personally, I use The Five Minute Gratitude Journal to stay mindful and focused on the positive. It’s a simple and effective way to start or end your day with gratitude.
6. Where do I need God’s strength right now?
Right now, I need God to keep my mind strong. Not having a job yet has been overwhelming, and doubts about my worth are starting to creep in. I need Him to calm my thoughts and prevent me from overthinking. I already know, through His word, how to handle things beyond my control—now it’s time to truly apply that knowledge.
7. Who can I pray for today?
Rather than sharing anyone’s personal story, I want you to know that I pray over everyone who reads my posts. My prayer is that these words bring you hope, motivation, and a reminder that you’re far from alone in this world.
8. How can I make more time for God in my daily routine?
To make more time for God, I could start by waking up a bit earlier to study the Bible instead of just reading it quickly. Now that my little one is falling asleep at a decent hour (thank you, God!), I can also spend time reading before bed. This Bible Journaling Kit has made studying the Bible 10 times more fun and engaging! It comes with highlighters, translucent sticky notes, and tabs for organizing your favorite verses. It’s a great way to stay focused on God’s word and to keep reminders of His peace and guidance in your daily life.
9. What verse is speaking to me today, and why?
Psalm 27:1 speaks to me today and every day: “The Lord is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?” I tend to worry a lot, and this verse brings so much peace and reassurance, reminding me that God is my constant protector and that I have no reason to fear.
10. What does it mean to me that God loves me unconditionally?
This question touches me deeply. John 3:16 says, “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” To be loved so much that He’d give His only Son for us is unimaginable. As a parent, I’d sacrifice the world to save my daughter. God’s love goes beyond anything we can understand—it’s gracious, forgiving, and boundless. To be loved unconditionally by God means being loved more than even a parent’s love, which is beyond comprehension.
As I reflect on these prompts, I’m reminded that faith is a journey, not a destination. Every step we take—whether in trust, gratitude, or prayer—brings us closer to God’s heart. I hope sharing my own reflections has encouraged you to explore your own responses and find peace in knowing that we’re all on this path together. May you feel His love and strength in every moment, and may these reflections be a reminder that God’s presence is always within reach. Let’s keep growing in faith, one day at a time.
