If you’re seeking to feel closer to God, these prompts are for you. When life feels overwhelming or when I simply want to reconnect with my faith, these questions have been my grounding place—a gentle guide that helps me reflect, listen, and open up to God’s presence. Each prompt is paired with a Bible verse that has brought me peace and comfort, and I hope they bring you the same.

If you’re looking to go even deeper in your devotional journey, I also recommend 365 Daily Devotions. This beautiful book offers daily reflections and insights that guide you into greater faith and trust in God’s plan for your life. Whether you use these prompts or dive into a book like this, each moment spent with God is one step closer to His heart. Let’s walk through this together, step by step, in His light.

1. “What is one area in my life where I need to trust God more fully?”

When life feels uncertain, this question becomes my anchor. I often feel the urge to control every detail, but trusting God is about letting go and believing He’s got me. Think about an area where you’re carrying worry and ask God to help you place it in His hands.

If you struggle with worry, I invite you to read Faith Over Fear. In it, I share Bible verses that have helped me find peace and overcome anxiety.

2. “How has God shown His love for me recently?”

Sometimes we get so busy that we overlook the little blessings around us. For me, this prompt is a reminder to pause and look at the ways God is showing up in my everyday life. It could be as simple as a moment of peace, a hug from my daughter, or an unexpected answer to prayer.

3. “What does it mean to love others the way Jesus loves me?”

This one is challenging because Jesus’ love is so limitless and unconditional. But thinking about it reminds me to be patient, kind, and compassionate with others. Ask yourself how you can show love like Jesus today. For more inspiration, you might enjoy reading my post, Love Yourself Like God Loves You, where I share Bible verses to help us embrace this kind of love for ourselves and others

4. “What do I feel God is calling me to in this season of my life?”

Life has seasons, and each one brings its own calling. Right now, I’m learning to be more present, more patient, and to trust God’s timing in areas I can’t yet see clearly. Ask God where He might be leading you.

5. “What are three things I am grateful for today?”

This is one of my favorites because it grounds me in the present and shifts my focus to what’s good. Gratitude is a beautiful form of prayer. List three things you’re grateful for, and let it remind you of God’s goodness.

6. “Where do I need God’s strength right now?”

We all have moments when we feel weak or overwhelmed. For me, this prompt is a way to be honest with God about my struggles. Whether it’s facing a tough decision, parenting challenges, or feeling drained, ask God for His strength.

7. “Who can I pray for today?”

This question shifts my focus from myself to others, reminding me that we’re all connected. Think of someone who might need God’s presence—whether they’re struggling, celebrating, or somewhere in between. Lift them up in prayer.

8. “How can I make more time for God in my daily routine?”

Life gets busy, and finding time for God can be hard. This prompt always reminds me to prioritize my relationship with Him. Whether it’s setting aside time for morning prayer, reading a devotional, or just a few quiet minutes before bed, think of small ways to bring Him into your day.

9. “What verse is speaking to me today, and why?”

Some days, a Bible verse just jumps out at me, speaking directly to my heart. Take a moment to find a verse that resonates with you, then sit with it. What’s God trying to tell you through these words?

10. “What does it mean to me that God loves me unconditionally?”

This is one I come back to often. God’s love is constant, even on the days I feel unworthy. Reflecting on His unconditional love helps me embrace my own worth and reminds me that I’m loved beyond measure.

If you’re looking for ways to connect with God on a deeper level, I hope these prompts give you a starting point. Each one is a small step toward feeling His presence, finding peace, and knowing you’re held by His love. Remember, this journey is personal, and there’s no right or wrong way to go about it. Take your time, be honest, and let these moments with God transform you from the inside out.
