Family Bible Study
Christmas is a time to reflect on God’s love for us and how we can share that love with others. As a family, studying what the Bible says about love during this season can deepen your connection with one another and remind you of the true heart of Christmas.
If you haven’t already, take a look at The Gift of Jesus: A Family Christmas Bible Study. It’s a beautiful way to reflect on the promise and joy of Jesus’ birth with your family this Christmas.
Opening Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of love You gave us through Jesus. Help us to understand Your love better as we study Your Word. Guide our hearts to reflect that love in our actions and relationships, especially during this Christmas season. Amen.
God’s Love for Us
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” — John 3:16
This verse reminds us that Christmas is about God’s extraordinary love for us. He sent Jesus to show us what true, sacrificial love looks like.
Discussion Questions:
1. What does it mean to you that God loves us so much He gave us Jesus?
2. How does understanding God’s love change the way we love others?
3. As a family, how can we show gratitude for God’s love this Christmas?
Love in Action
“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” — 1 John 3:18
The Bible reminds us that love isn’t just about saying the right things—it’s about doing the right things. During Christmas, we’re given so many opportunities to show love through kindness, generosity, and forgiveness.
Discussion Questions:
1. What are some ways we can show love as a family this Christmas?
2. Is there someone in your life who could use an extra act of kindness or love right now?
3. How can we make love a daily action, not just something we focus on during the holidays?
Love for One Another
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” — John 13:34
Jesus calls us to love one another just as He loves us. This kind of love requires patience, understanding, and forgiveness. Christmas is a perfect time to reflect on how we can strengthen our love for those around us.
Discussion Questions:
1. What does it mean to love others the way Jesus loves us?
2. How can our family grow in showing love to each other?
3. Is there anyone you need to forgive or extend grace to this season?
Closing Prayer
Dear Lord,
Thank You for teaching us about love through Jesus. Help us to reflect Your love in all we do, not just at Christmas but every day. Strengthen our family’s love for one another and show us how to share Your love with the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Love is the heart of Christmas. It’s why Jesus came, and it’s what God calls us to share with others. As a family, let this Christmas season be a time to grow closer through acts of love, forgiveness, and kindness.
